Comfortable brightness of watching television in the dark

This study exploits an optimal display brightness for watching television in the dark. Two experiments were carried out a dark room, and static moving images tested each experiment. In Experiment I, three different, full-screen color presented with levels ranging from 20 to 400 nit. A total of 23 college students assessed stimulus' degree visual comfort. II was conducted 31 participants, six videos range 500 nit shown. As result, when image, participants' assessments almost same among stimuli. However, video, characteristics stimuli made evaluation vary. provides empirical evidence estimations comfort based on luminance that should be considered designing more comfortable viewing environment.
